Nothing But The Truth (ending)

After the incident, Philip Malloy was found out that he was not telling the truth as he did not know the lyrics of the National Anthem and could not possibly be singing it. He had been humming the National Anthem all along and was lying that he was singing the National Anthem to show his patriotism. How could a person show his patriotism when he did not know the lyrics and the meaning of the National Anthem? This news was later published in the newspaper and many people came to learn about the truth. They felt sorry for accusing Miss Narwin wrongly and apologized for any inconveniences they had caused. Miss Narwin was then invited back to school where everyone threw a party for her. On seeing this, she was on cloud nine. She had almost totally forgotten about all the embarrassment and accusation she suffered all this time. On the other hand, Philip was expelled and no schools wanted him. He had to hide his face wherever he went as people would either be staring daggers at him or making fun of his name. He was extremely upset as tears welled up in his eyes. He was remorseful of what he had done but all was too late. He cried bitterly for almost an hour. Just then, Miss Narwin told the reporters who were interviewing her that she had forgiven Philip as after all, everyone does make mistakes. She then appealed to the principal to allow Philip to continue studying in Harrison School. After this, Philip was very grateful to Miss Narwin and from then on, she was his favourite teacher
